The Government's identifier for the McDonnell XP-67 program was MX-127. But do you know what the adjacent MX-126 number was for? Agfacolor film for cameras! Agfacolor was already in widespread use in Germany where it was invented (I started to say "developed") so I guess it got onto the list of pure defense projects for potential use of captured stocks by US forces. Or something. Anyway it was odd to see it right next to XP-67, and I wonder why I never noticed it in all the time we were researching and writing our book on that airplane. (MX-128, on the other side of the numbers, was for putting dive brakes on A-20s...)

MX- as I recall is an AMC experimental identifier, not a 'Government' one.
