I researching an accident by a PB4Y-1 (navalized version of the B-24 Liberator) The report stated that the aircraft was over its maximun take off weight. The accident report states that "the gross weight of the aircraft at the time of takeoff was 66,000 pounds with the index at 88, the basic index is 83.7." What was the maximun takeoff weight of a PB4Y-1? What does index mean? The aircraft was fully fueled, was carring nine 500 lbs bombs and crashed on take off.

    Thanks in advance
