What's the best way to learn about ww2 aircraft?

I've found some really well done DVD or Blu Ray series which give a good mix of factual information, insight, and actual film footage of the planes themselves. As has been said earlier in this thread, there will be mistakes of one sort or another in almost any production. However, if you view several different series, you'll start being able to pick out the differences in information, and can research those details to find which are the most accurate.

You can also find YouTube channels, such as Zeno's Warbirds ( ZenosWarbirds ), which have actual films from the period, many of which were produced by the War Department of the United States (precursor to the Department of Defense) for the members of the Armed Forces.

Welcome to the forum! You have already asked good questions. "What is Axis and Allies" Talk about a good start! Sure helps to know the countries involved and why. As stated above that many books have errors there are also books that have nationalistic or political slants to them. One of my absolute favorite books is "The Rape of Nanking" by Iris Chang. It talks about the Japanese army invading Nanking in China and some of the brutality committed against the civilians. But there was another motivation behind it.

From Wiki....
"The book attracted both praises for exposing the details of the atrocity and criticisms because of alleged inaccuracies. After publication of the book, Chang campaigned to persuade the Japanese government to apologize for its troops' wartime conduct and to pay compensation."

Still, it's one of my favorite books.

What was Dungeness during WW2, was it a bombing or what and why was it bombed? I can't find any information on it. Also are there any important dates that i should know from WW2?

Dungeness???? Not sure. Dresden maybe???

If so, look up the Dresden bombing on Wikipedia. It has pretty good information about the bombing raids and details the 1,000+ bombers and 700+ escort fighters.

Important dates? 100's of them. Maybe a little advice, start with one or two events and go from there. Start with September 1st 1939 when Germany invaded Poland to officially start WWII. Or December 7th, 1941 when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. You certainly can't learn it all at once so if you start with one or two it will surely lead you to many, many more.

Hi Mate,

These questions with answering sound good. Quite simply and easy to remember.

What is your trouble with the last question and replay?

thanks, are the questions too long, if so how can i word them differently so the questions are shorter? Should i say What two battles was Blizkrieg used in? Polish invasion and Battle of France? im going to do more of these, should i do questions and answers now about the Battle of France?

OK. I grasped.

The last question you may make shorter.....

"How did Germany give a surprise attack on France and Belgium? They avoided the Maginot Line by going through the Ardennes Forest"

How did Germans attack France? They passed by the Maginot Line attacking through the Ardennes Forst.

Regarding the Blitzkrieg...
Your question "What two battles was Blizkrieg used in? Polish invasion and Battle of France?" seems to be OK.
The "Blitzkrieg" title was used for naming the strategy of an attack So your question can be shorter as well......

What was the Germans' startegy for attacking Poland and France? The Blitzkrieg.

OK.

"What is meant by Phoney War? Weeks of no fighting between Germany, Britain or France"
