possible identification of droptank for P51 Mustang

Hello, I wonder if there is anybody on this forum who would be able to confirm or deny whether the item as per photograph is indeed a drop tank from a WW2 Mustang P51. Your help will be much appreciated. Thank you. Theo

If it is, it has been modified (as well as painted) with some type of attachment at the rear end (narrow end). If I were to guess, it would be a P-51 drop tanks (75gal ?). Holland?
Thanks very much for that. yes it has been painted and the attachment may very well have been put there in the course of it being made into a decorative windmill for a garden.
 
I agree - the tank used on the P-51 looked like this slightly bent example shown below.
Your tank looks rather like a post war, early RAF jet tank, or similar era.
