According to German sources, the diameter of the VDM airscrew on the 109E was 3100 mm.
Yes, 3.10m is a usual quote for the Bf 109 E versions. However, there are some complications. Damaged blades could be shortened by up to 2% according to the VDM repair manual and likely in field conditions, that would be exceeded. I have seen propeller tests showing 10% cropping giving very little reduction in performance. Also, the Bf 110 with DB 601 A/N engines had similar and different propellers! The written diameter of some of these propellers are up to 3.4m ! Again it is possible that field conditions or evaluation of captured equipment might see 110 props on 109 aircraft, or vice-versa.

IIRC, all Bf 110 modifications up to F were equipped with the same VDM VS propellers with a diameter of 3.1m, and only starting with the 110G modification (110G-2 to be exact) with DB605B-1 engines were VDM 9-12098 propellers with a diameter of 3375mm installed.

Hi,
I have original VDM data that is a lot more complicated. The VDM VS Just means a VDM VERSTELLUFTSCHRAUBE abbreviation. The VDM Gerat numbers were much more specific.
Yes, the early Bf 109 E and Bf 110 with DB 601 A but without Automatik (ohne Automatik) both listed with the VDM 9-11081 A/B with 3.1m dia. But later aircraft with Automatik (mit Automatik) have listed different propeller Gerat.
Generally, the VDM documents do not simply list the prop diameters, which is awkward. The prop diameters are usually defined in the specific aircraft handbook for each type.
The Bf 110 with the DB DB 605 B is listed in VDM 1944 documents as having the 9-12078 A Luftscraube, and Mankau and Petrick list this on page 212 with 3.426m dia for the G-2.
However, I have not found the VDM 9-12098 propeller that you quote with 3.375m dia. It is a possibility that it was fitted, but not in the 1944 VDM documents.

Cheers
