Guys, as a part of my gmail-account (or for reasons I don't know exactly) I automatically receive photos from Instagram and other sources, based on my previous searches. "Big brother is watching" as they say. Today I was given a photo of a Bf 109G-10 with a relatively rare system AFAIK.

This is obviously and Erla-built G-10 (very small "crescent" panel).
The first thing that caught my attention was the open hatch in the rear fuselage. Compare this photo with all G-10 photos you have and you'll probably wouldn't find the same configuration (or at least not too often).
Here is what we normally see:

And this is a zoom-in for comparison:

The a/c in question has both fillers as above but has an additional hatch as well. I remember reading of this "anomaly" but never saw it before or never paid enough attention. This particular frame was for an a/c equipped with a GM-1 device - the U2 Umrustsatz. The hatch is the access to the pressure valve of the GM-1. There are 2 additional grips under the hatch as well. No idea what's their purpose. AFAIK no G-10 was manufactured with a GM-1 device, having the MW 50 factory installed. This could be an Erla- "recycled" frame.
Jean-Claude Mermet in his book has schemes of G-6, G-14 and G-10 with the same hatch. Check your collections too.
All photos are from the www.
Cheers!
P.S. from Oct.27, 2025
Went trough my Bf 109G-10 photos (web + books) and found several profiles with that hatch and a few photos of real planes with the hatch in the same location. All are Erla G-10s.

Photos above are of Bf 109 G-10 Erla, WNr. 151567 White 13 JG 300, Wunstorf, 13 April 1945

Cheers!
