Specifically interested in the following
- Did it have an intercooler on the two-stage supercharger
- Is there a reliable source that its internal fuel capacity was 150 gallons
- Where is that internal fuel
- Did it actually use a symmetrical airfoil, and if so why
- Its performance

re intercooler

The original intended engine - the single-stage single-speed XIV-1430 - had?/was to have? an air-to-air intercooler. However, this engine was never fitted to the XP-39E/XP-76. Some later variants of the engine used an inter-cooler with a turbo-supercharger as a 2nd stage, such as in the XP-49 and XP-67.

The engine actually used in the prototype XP-39E (and similar to the engine variant planned for production airframes) was the 2-stage V-1710-47. It did not have an inter-cooler and AFAIK there were no plans for one.
