Hello everyone,

I am researching firsthand accounts of Fw 190 and Bf 109 pilots who experienced projectile impacts against their cockpit seat armor during combat. Bullets or shrapnel... the type of projectile is irrelevant. Whether the armor was penetrated is irrelevant. I'm researching both seat and headrest armor.

So far I have found only two accounts: Fw 190 pilot Fritz Boost and 109 pilot Rolf Pingel. Any additional accounts you could submit here (with source reference, please) or point me toward would be very helpful and appreciated. Thank you.

Finnish squadron (LLv 34) commander Eino Luukkanen (in a Bf109G-2) was surprised by a Soviet La-5. Several hits, one by AP round from 20mm ShVAK cannons
Only the last two millimeters (of 11 mm seat armor) saved him.
(from his book)
