I haven't found a photo of her yet....
But, using #24, which is best used for this blue colour?

Jan ... IMHO the colour looks like or was similar or just was the same as the PRU Blue BS381C 636 used by the RAF ... for teh fadded variant of the colour yuo may use the mix of the Tamiya XF-18 (70%) and the XF-2 (30%).

I also just read that we repainted our S 31's in a somewhat darker blue later on....
I'm quite happy with the looks of the Vallejo 113....

IMHO the PRU Blues was still in use. The darker tone of the paint could have been because of either applying the fresh (new) coat or getting darker due to the weather. Our aviation uniforms always got the slightly draker and more greyish tone when was exposed to sunlight for long time. For the reason the windows of our dressing room had the window glasses painted blue to protect the uniforms agianst the fading. Anyway the Vallejo paint looks fine.

Same plane different lighting.

I believe you're overthinking it. I've never seen anything indicating that these were painted in anything other than PRU Blue and have always liked the version from Xtracolour.
