You got that rightI twer almost a year old...how time flyeth
While still in the New York area waiting for the ice storms to clear over the Atlantic we had an opportunity to take in the famous New Year's Eve celebration at Times Square. As the four of us approached the huge crowd a police officer stopped us and suggested we put our billfolds in a front pocket and keep a hand on it. The pick pockets were numerous and at work. We followed his instructions. The falling ball started and the count down chant began. On hitting the bottom all yelled "Happy New Year". 1945 had arrived. We found a nice restaurant close by and celebrated over a large juicy steak. When finished eating we headed for the train station to catch a train back to the base in Trenton, New Jersey. A nice gentle snow was falling and the temp was mild. On approaching a major intersection we noticed a man who was drunk as a skunk in top hat and tails standing in the center of the intersection directing traffic. There wasn't a car in sight but he was having the time of his life. A fitting sight to end a memorable night.

1945, the fateful year that would witness the world transition from destructive total war to peace.
I don't know if you ever wondered where you'd be on 1946's new year day Bill, but I am glad to see you in high spirits for 2018's new year day.
