Anybody know what happened to the Turkish Airforce Spitfire Mk IX's that they recieved in 1947 and replaced in the early 1950s ?

Hi,
From "Spitfire International ".
Two Mk.IXe's, PV140 and RK803 were sold to Italy after they had emergency landed there on delivery from England to Turkey ( TuAF serial numbers would have been applied to these Spitfires upon arrivalinTurkey). Became Italian Air Force MM4286 & MM4287. All other surviving were scrapped when replaced in 1954 by F-86E Sabre's.

Scramble's "Turkish Military Aircraft Since 1912" has both of these Spitfires listed under Aircraft claimed delivered by RAF but not in TuAF archives.
