Hi Guy's,

Has anyone got any info on this unusual MGFF installation in the wing leading edge of this Bf109E. Also possibly noteworthy are the two dark lines on the uppermost top pane of glass on the cockpit. What are they? They look like the sliding sections on a Bf109F cockpit which does not make sense as the wing is clearly of the E variety also with the blocked off MG17 port.

Thanks

What if it is an upgraded E-1? The blanked of port for the wing's MG 17 would lend credence to that. There's no way of knowing what that airframe started out as without the werknummer, you certainly can't tell from the canopy fitted. There must have been several contractors doing the cannon installations and more than one method may have been used and approved.

Shame we can't see more of the dog! He/She looks very fit

Cheers
Steve

Could be Steve. It looks like a bodge job to me. Well very slightly anyway. I've not managed to find another single example though.

Happy New Year.
