Hello, my name is Hugh and I am looking to identify parts from the crash site of a Wellington Mk1c - L4290 -21st July 1939 all crew killed.
A recovery was carried out in 2010 I believe when an engine and propeller was found.
During covid a member of the village collected a bag of parts from the field where the crash happened whilst walking their dog and has passed them on to me because I am a committee member of our History and Heritage group. We also have a small Museum where we intend to display some items.
I have images of the items, some are whole (ie not fragments) and some have numbers, all are small. Locals had offered to try and help through contacts but this has failed so I have trawled this site and found one bracket by chance which was part of the bomb gear.
A presentation is taking place in February by two enthusiasts detailing the Aircraft, Crew and Crash, being ex military myself I feel that all effort should be carried out to identify these parts rather than just post and show them as unknown.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Hugh

Welcome to the site.

If you need to get some of our help, please go the ID of Aircraft Parts section for the ID of parts. Please start there your a thread with the images of the pieces you want to identify. I'm sure there are members who can try to help.

Yes definitely of interest thank you mjfur, can I pick your brain on Form 78, I see at the top of the report into L4290, in light hand writing it reports "crashed at Boscmbe Down" so that is reference to a previous crash ?. The fatal crash being in Milborne Port.
