By the way in the Ginter P-51H book they mention that a XP-51J was found at the Allison plant years after the war. It was no doubt sent there so the company could work on that notoriously finicky engine, much the same as the powerplant that led to most of the F-82 production run sitting without engines at the former Vultee plant in Downey, CA. Perhaps NAA sent the Twin Mustangs there because there is a manure processing plant right across the street? But Allison was into jets and not really interested in fiddling with the V-1710 any more.
