Shown here are two RAF high-speed Air Sea Rescue Launches Nos. 177 and 2548, based at Newhaven. Both these craft played a major role in rescuing crews of twelve 1st BW aircraft which ditched off the South coast on returnig from a mission on 6th September, 1943.
