Shown here is one of the 12 production Firebrand TF.Mk.II aircraft used by No.708 Sqd, a shore-based trials unit based at Lee-on-Solent, during the autumn of 1944. Note the 457 mm (18 in) torpedo underneath the fuselage. To enable a torpedo to be carried the centre section of the Firebrand F.Mk.I had to be widened by 0.46 m (18 in).
