Shown here is one of six B-17F-BO Flying Fortresses of the 97th BG used to carry Allied Commanders for the TORCH landings to Gibralter on 6th November, 1942. This particular aircraft (41-24388) whilst carrying Gens. Doolittle and Lemnitzer was attacked by Ju 88s over the Bay of Biscay but arrived safely as can be seen at Gibralter.
