Seen here is Beaufort Mk.1 (W6494) of No.217 Sqn, which was shot down at Carpiquet airfield near Caen on 13 May, 1941. The bombs underneath the aircraft did not explode. both the pilot and navigator were killed in the crash but the wireless operator and gunner survived.
