Hi,
Not sure where the caption came from for this one, but the oval direct vision panel in the canopy had been deleted on the Mk.IX. The Mk. IX had a circular rear view mirror, the last rectangular ones having been fitted to the Vb. The squadron identity code for 312 Squadron was DU. The squadron code in the photo is not clear but seems to me to involve the letter N as the second letter.
