While escorting a force of SBDs and TBFs on a mission to Bouganville (June 5, 1943), Marine pilot Ken Walsh downs a Japanese "Pete" floatplane fighter that was attacking the U.S. Air Group Commander's Avenger. Walsh ended the war with 20 confirmed aerial victories, and numerous medals (including the Medal of Honor).
