The Mistel combined a fighter (Bf 109 or Fw 190) and a bomber (Ju 88), the latter with its nose replaced by a hollow-charge warhead packed with 3,500 kg (7,700 lb) of explosive. It was guided to its target by the fighter, which then separated itself from the bomber.
