Short Stirling Mk.I R.6129 HA-X at dispersal during the early summer of 1942. No.218 Squadron took this aircraft on charge on January 8th 1942. On February 28th N.6129 was transferred to 218 Squadrons Conversion Flight. The aircraft failed to return from an operation against Hamburg on July 28/29th 1942. At the time of loss the aircraft was captained by 24-year-old Pilot Officer Colin MacQueen Farquharson, R.A.F. All seven crewmembers were killed, the crew were on their 8th operation, Pilot Officer Farquharson was on his 16th.
