Shown here is Whitley Mk.V, DY-R, (N1380) of No.102 Sqd, based at Driffield. On the night of 20th/21st May, 1940 five Whitleys from No.102 Sqd were sent to attack bridges over the River Oise in one of many last ditch attempts to halt the German Blitzkrieg. The aircraft pictured skippered by Flt Lt D H W Owen was the only one that failed to return that night.
