Shown here are the survivors of Liberator GR.MkII/III, R, (FL947) of No.224 Sqd that had been shot down on 13th May, 1943 by Ju 88s being rescued six days later by a Sunderland GR.Mk.II/III of No.10 Sqd RAAF. Despite official disapproval, open sea rescues by Sunderland crews continued throughout the war.
