Shown here is a one of the few genuine 'Battle of Britain' pics of a line-up of Spitfire Mk.IAs of No.65 Sqd, based at Hornchurch. This pic taken on 15th July, 1940 shows eight new Spitfires that had been formally presented to 'A' flight to form 'The East India Fund Flight'. The nearest aircraft YT-D, (R6799) is painted in the colours of the period, green and brown, and the new duck-egg blue undersides, with no roundel. It has HF radio, but no IFF wire aerial between the fuselage and tailplane.
