Shown here is the crew of the Type VIIC seagoing boat U564 about to begin transferring fuel to the Type IXC oceangoing boat U162 (background), 1st September, 1942. two days later U162 was depth-charged and sunk by the RN destroyers Pathfinder, Quentin & Vimy north-east of Trinidad.
