Shown here is the 'Casablanca' class escort carrier USS Coral Sea (ex-USS Alikula Bay) ((CVE57, EX-ACV57) underway off Kwajalein Atoll during the invasion, 2nd February, 1944, as seen from the USS Manila Bay (ex-USS Bucareli bay) (CVE61). Kwajalein Atoll can be seen burning in the centre distance, from the pre-landing bombardment. other ships of TF52 can be seen at left, the the battleship USS Pennsylvania (BB38), in the middle of the group.
