    Help with 20mm shell identification

    Weight with band could push it to 128 grams. The indent(s) on the base would mean it has been fired? Spent a good amount of time looking for any paint or markings. deep scratch on fuse looks like a layer of metal below that copper. Does this make sense?

    Mitchell B-25 RCAF

    Fubar57: Not certain if my father had any thing to do with the planes, but I can remember him saying the Mitchell was a shaky plane and the Liberator a pig to fly. No idea if he actually flew but he did mention a sheep skin ' plug in heated flying suit that was lifted from his locker at base...

    Mitchell B-25 RCAF

    These were in my a box of my fathers photos. He took them while stationed at RCAF Abbotsford air base from 1943 to 1945. The advanced training for bomber pilots were with the B-24 and 25. There are more shots of the same plane that I will post in the future.

    Jimbob: Thanks for the reply. The shell has no markings, stamps...nada! There is an indent on the bottom of the shell. The fuse is made up of steel both sections. Not much to go on. Thanks for your help. MiTasol: Thanks for the leads and information. The shell has no markings or paint...

    I have had this shell for over 55 years but unable to identify. Some collectors say German others British. Can anyone help. Two photos attached.
