    The Road to the B-32...

…is paved with good intentions... While our (myself and co-author Nicholas A. Veronico) plan had been to have what we are confident will be The Definitive Book on the B-32 finished several years ago, life and its complications got in the way BIG TIME. First came COVID, shutting down pretty...

Hello! I came across three photos of a mockup of a P-39 night-fighter. Would it be possible to get 300dpi copies of those photos? I really want to look at the radar operator's compartment. Alan

    British 3000lb "Journey's End" Bomb

Mike Thanks for your response. Almost immediately after I posted my question I called some of my research friends in the UK and got quite a bit of information on what was called the Cherwell Jeffris bomb prior to its being assigned the code name "Journey's End". Most interesting to say the...

    British 3000lb "Journey's End" Bomb

While doing research for another project I came upon an AAF reference from 1945 regarding the British 3000lb "Journey's End" bomb. Does anyone have any good information on this bomb and/or a link to a good source for information? Many thanks in advance. AlanG

    eBay: Consolidated B-32 Dominator

We have all these photos and many, many more in gathering for our book on the Dominator. With the help of the former head archivist we have been able to organize the photos in the same order as the production of the aircraft. Good stuff. AlanG

WWI BOmbers and the relief tube

Does anyone know if the big British (O/100 and O/400) and German bombers (Gotha, Zepplin, etc.) have relief tubes fitted? AlanG

    North American A-27

MiTasol, according my fellow research friends the paints were actual Del Monte paints, not AAF. Of course, given the tensions of the time it is hard to find definitive information - yet. The dark green was identified as "Del Monte Green", but it is also possible the paints were mixes. However...

    **** DONE: GB-52 1/72 B-24H Hotcha Baby/ Me Worry!!?- Heavy Hitters IV

While a very nice job on your model, it is not an H or ANY Ford B-24 under any circumstances. It is closest to a Block 185 Consolidated B-24J or later - except for the "Ford S" you scribed. Sorry. Alan Griffith Author "Consolidated Mess, Vol I"

    North American A-27

Attached is a document by the AAF from my files written June 3, 1941 listing the A-27's stationed at the time in the PI. Another interesting note on these aircraft is that the camouflage colors used were from stocks of Del Monte paints already in the PI, NOT any AAF colors. Enjoy...

    Looking for pictures B-24, 44-10536, 448th BG

Mike, Here is an illustration I drew for my book "Consolidated Mess, Vol. I" of the the B-24J-60-CF (Consolidated Fort Worth) block of which your aircraft was a part. The Block 60 aircraft went primarily to the 8th and 15th Air Forces, although a few went to the RAF and RCAF. The aircraft...

    240 IAP La-5F/FN ?

My research focus is/are USAAS/AAC/AAF bombers, attack and observation aircraft from roughly 1919-1945 - as well as whatever oddball stuff I can come up with - so reading threads like the above are a bit like opening a newly-discovered treasure chest. I tip my proverbial hat to the researchers...

    R40 and R40B Description Request

NO luck yet. I'm beginning to wonder if I hallucinated it all - but I'm sure I didn't. Perhaps in some other forum? Perhaps. AlanG

    R40 and R40B Description Request

Some time ago I wrote up a descriptive comparison between the above AAF projects. For one reason or another I am unable to find either it or my internal copy of this description. If anyone can paste the link here to my write-up I would be VERY grateful. Alan
