ANZAC day in Australia and New Zealand is when we remember all the veterans of all wars. It is named after the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) soldiers who went ashore at Gallipoli in Turkey at first light on this day in 1915.
There are two services in most towns/cities.
The first, the Dawn Service, is held at first light so the time varies from place to place. The Civil Service is usually mid morning but has no fixed time.
My eldest paraded with, and is a member of, the Volunteer Marine Rescue. Although an ex serviceman there was no unit for him to parade with. I suspect he was the only US passport holder in today's parades.
