Hi, I was wondering if anyone has a profile example of a 17 Squadron Hurricane Mk.I from the late Battle of Britain. Every piece of artwork/profile seems to be different from the next, Be it the size/colour of the propeller hub, the size of the fuselage roundel, the relative thickness of the aircraft identification letter vs squadron code, underside roundels present or not, the state of the leading edge on the wings and the type of print style used on the aircraft numbering (may be I missed something else). Does anybody have any ideas about what a truer representation of a late BoB 17 Squadron Hurricane should look like please? Is there a definitive profile/artwork out there showing this? Your thoughts are most welcome - thank you.

Thank you some lovely photos, quite a few I haven't seen before on a typical Google image search - cheers

The leading edge of YB-V in that first photo looks unusual. Seems like they oversprayed the underside Sky colour to form a wavy demarkation line between it and the upper-surface Dark Green and Dark Earth. Hadn't noticed that before.

It's a bit trickier to see it on YB-C but I think I can see a similar demarkation, particularly the outboard section of the port wing where it's less scuffed and the camouflage is easier to discern.

You are right. Also the kind of the demarcation line can be found on the YB-A image seen with the link I provided above. IMHO that's the result of switching from the day-night B&W colours at the undersides to the Sky and removing of the A roundel type from there. The slightly overpainted large one still can be noticed on the port wing bottom. The order for removal of the underside roundels was issued on June 6, 1940. It should be followed until the August 1, 1940 when the A roundels were restored at the bottom..
