4800-hp lycoming T55 turboshaft engine maintenance manual and illustrated parts catalogue used on CH-47 series, government approved public released, distribution is unlimited.
For the first post, it's electronic-controlled T55-714 engine, which is capable of 4800hp for 5mins, 5000hp for 30s, 4200hp continuious at a low altitude.

In the second post, it's machenical-controlled T55-712 engine, which is 3800hp continuious at a low altitude.
It's more complex than T55-714 engine, but required less requirement on electronic technology.
The maintenance manual lacks turbine section, which had to refer to TM-1-2840-252-23-1.pdf manual in the first post of T55-714 engine for this section.

For materials of the engine, refer to Basic Aircraft Materials and treatment:

Many years ago, for my college design project. back before team designs were required. I designed a WWII type airplane around the 3600 HP T-55-L11. An airplane about the same size and weight as a Japanese Zero, but with three times the horsepower. It was purely an aerodynamics project. so no systems or structural analysis. Just performance and some estimated stability and control analysis. My only goal was to design an airplane that could climb straight up. as an F-15 could, and I succeeded. though best climb was at about 75 degree climb angle,. was around 17,000 fpm. Don't know if the twelve foot diameter contra-rotating prop could actually absorb all that power, but that's just activity factor. Didn't look into transonic issues or practicality.
