Why didn't the Soviet give Mig-23 a simple computer that adjust wing angle according to engine settings?

well - simply you are wrong - it must be coupled with aero data sensors, absolutely not with engine control lever....One slaved to engine settings wouldn't be what you'd want.
Think of take off, wings forward for max lift, and max power too for quick takeoff
. Landing ( which would be with the wings forward ) is another flight condition where max power might be needed if you have to abort the landing.

sorry - you have been correct than - in fact it will be very bad idea to couple logic of such system with throttle settingI don't think you understood what I said, , I said wing sweep controlled by engine power would not ( wouldn't) be safe., or what would work best.
