a6m control lever identification

Please does anyone know what this lever is for on the left hand side of the cockpit? The translation just says automatic altitude valve but is not very specific. Thanks

As memo serves it is the high altitude mixture control lever. It was mounted on the cockpit port wall at the top edge .
