Try Googling him/her/it. They may be a legitimate author, albeit, a stupid one. Was the P38 Lightning really designed for "speed, precision, and versatility"? The problem of generating books on potentially interesting subjects has long predated AI.

I have a strong feeling that these "books" (I use the term VERY loosely) are not the work of the real Avery Hollis. Going by reviews of his genuine books I'm assuming that someone is trying to sell this cr@p by claiming that identity/reputation. I may be wrong but it does already occur on auction websites.

I am suspicious that this is a fake (cover) name for those, who "self edit" the whole bunch of shite. Norm Avery is the greatest name when you talk B-25, ever. When I saw that some Avery has written a "book" about the "secrets" of the B-25, I immediately connected the 2 names and still believe this is not a real name. I might be wrong though but I really don't care. This kind of "literature" should not be on Amazon. If the "author" wants he can sell his "masterpieces" on the street. I really wonder what will be the quality of the print, is this a real book or just some loose pages, printed on a inkjet printer etc.

Oh, quality of print could be still good. Self publishing works quite well and with print on demand you can do that with hardly any risk.

with in this case - obvious faults being pointed out by those with experience / good knowledge of the subject ?

You can do reviews but be aware that these are accompanied by "verified purchase" if you have bought the book. Conversely there won't be a marker if you haven't, so unverified reviews carry a lot less weight. I would be interested to know the actual content of these but suspect they are cobbled together from Wiki pages. I wouldn't buy these on two counts: first that they would be a waste of my well-earned cash and secondly that I wouldn't want to finance this idiot in any way, shape or form.

The works of Avery A Hollis are listed on Foyles.co.uk, and other online retail sites, as the information has been added by the publisher to the UK Publishers' database Nielsen, from whom we acquire most bibliographic data for our website.

I have been unable to find any information regarding the author and the titles are only listed as 'Independently Published'.

We will pass on this information to our Web Team for consideration.

I read an article a very long time ago entitled "Somewhere a Gat". It was all about a series of detective stories that appeared in a pulp magazine, probably back in the thirties. The author recycled the same story over and over again, changing names and locales to suit. Somewhere a "gat" would go off, and the detective would solve the homicide. How do I write a detective story each and every week over the next five years, with minimum effort, and without AI?

Look up Horatio Alger. If there is demand, someone will work out a cheap, low quality way to meet it.

If you don't buy the book you cannot write a review. I tried - couldn't find a way. There are also no reviews for these "books" at all. I tried and I can activate "Write a review" but didn't try to send one yet. There is one possible way for everybody: to "report an issue with this product" to Amazon directly. The link is below the pathetic description of the book.

As a boy who started out reading Hardy Boys mysteries, I'm familiar with this idea. Turns out that not only were the plots plug'n'play, the authors were too -- there were three or four who wrote under the name "Franklin W. Dixon".
