Two images attached, one just for amusement. The accompanying bumph that I have confirms that it was for low level which makes sense given its simplicity. Similarities to the British hand held Mk I sight.
Anyone know if this was adopted and used operationally?

Interesting item. Does the bumpf say if those are suction cup feet (to hold it steady on the glass panel in the nose of an aircraft like the Hudson) or if they are bolt on anti vibration feet?

Attached is the single page of bumph. The sight is attached to the bombing window but the description is a bit unclear to me. No mention of suction cups or anti-vibration mounts.

That is a real winner in the keep it vague class of document writing.

Given that
  • on the Hudson at least there was no frame above the glass to mount it on, and
  • some equipment was carried on board in cases, not physically attached until time of use, and
  • sitting the sight on hard rubber feet would allow it to move as the aircraft manoeuvred,
I am going to go out on a limb and say that all or some of the feet must have been suction cups or some sort of antiskid material or the sight would be next to useless in turbulence etc.

I cannot comment on other aircraft it was possibly used on as the Hudson is the only one I have personal experience with.
