Is there anyone who live in or near Washington D.C. and has ever used the Library of Congress?
I found some extremely rare primary documents about Japanese aircraft in the online catalogue of the library of Congress.
Immediately I ordered online duplication service, but unfortunately my order was cancelled because these documents were deemed "too fragile".
I would really appreciate it if you could advise me of any other ways to get copies. I know the best way is just to visit the library but I live in Japan and don't have time...

Examples of what I found:
"A7M1 2nd performance calculation"

"The experiment on the exhaust rocket effect of Type-Zero carrier fighter"

"The research on the performance improvement of the propeller for J2M2 Raiden"

Thank you very much in advance!

Although I usually copy materials at Archives 1 and 2, I've done a few jobs at LC. There are some odd rules there, but I suspect that no one will be allowed to copy those documents - after all, if the docs are too fragile to be copied by their professional staff, it's unlikely they'd allow me to do the job. The finding aids you linked to had a place to contact their staff - ask if I (or anyone else) would be allowed to make copies and what equipment would be acceptable. If they say it's OK, contact me and we can work out the details.

Cheers,

Dana
