I found this steel plate at an Avro Lancaster crash site.
Do you know what this part is and where it is located in the bomber?

And I wonder if this is one of the vertical plates protecting the engines.

I doubt I can answer but if you had some dimensions that would help. Also if you clean it off there should be a part number somewhere and I would expect someone here has a parts catalogue that can narrow the part number down to an area, if not the exact location. The post war parts catalogues that I have seen do not include armour plate.
