Reminds me of an article in a modelling magazine, back in the 1970's (maybe early 1980s), about a large-scale, model Merlin engine, displayed at the Model Engineering Exhibition in London. That engine actually worked, powered, I think, by model aero engine fuel. Long time ago, so details are hazy.
Might have been the same chap.
