Hi everyone,

My Grandad was a tail gunner in Bomber Command 625 sqd. Most of his missions were in CF-C NN699. Im about to build a model and would love to know if there was any nose art? Ive searched everywhere but im not able to find this information.

Ive looked on the 625 website and it says none/unknown. Ive also contacted the Lancaster archives but no luck there.

Hoping on the off chance someone here may know.

He also flew in CF-V, CF-H, CF-J, CF-B, CF-D

Many thanks

Talking to 625 Sqn crew members over 30 years ago, it seems nose art wasn't very common in the Squadron.
One exception was CF-O, named "Oozlum Bird".
I did a painting, made into limited edition prints back in 1991, signed by the crew who flew her on her final mission, being shot down near Stuttgart in July 1944 ( copy painting attached).
The pilot on that night, Frank Collett, thoroughly disliked the nose art.

Thank you 🙏
I think I'll just use the bomb decals that come with the model and have the amount of bombs to represent how many missions he was flew.

Nice painting by the way!

Hi Chew.
It's very hard to find many photos of this squadron's aircraft as I found out for myself. I had some great help from members on here when building CF-N for my wife's friend's Dad who was the baby son of the pilot of this aircraft when he was lost during a mission. Good luck with yours.
Regards J
