I have really enjoyed going through the advanced until now. It will be an interesting project to follow and learn.
I really like the detail you've achieved so far Bill.
Someday it will be the turn of my 1/48 Revell Flying Fortress.

Doing dry fittings to check for any hangups and for corrections I will need to make. Also painting but that will be later today.

First the seats are wrong. B17's didn't have the high backs as the kit has.

Next, I saw the great gap where the wing attaches but I already knew about it.

But there are also these great alignment pins that will need to be addressed.

Not to mention that the bomb bay has really no detail to it. Not even a door from either side as can be viewed above.

Then there are the rudder pedals that are too close together.

I've got my work cut out for me.

Started the two chairs. I added .020 styrine sheet to the back of the chair then cut and ground the chairs into proper shape.

I have test fitted the chairs in place and they seem ok. Just needed to add the extra cross pieces.
Also cut out extra room for the pedals but decided not to try moving them yet.

Good stuff.
It is rather odd that the bomb bay parts are not included in the 'clear' kit. I built the normal, 'solid' kit, which included the bomb bay central racks and main beam., with its cantilever spar beneath it.

Oh I have that stuff but notice there are no doors or even moldings to show what it would look like.
I modified one of the chairs, starting on the second one.

Chairs are structurally done now. Time for some painting. I have an idea to try painting wise. I read about a technique for showing wear through paint down to metal. Nothing great, just subtle hints.
The chairs as they now appear.
