Hi guys, I'm creating a livery for the B-24D-CO, serial number 41-11613, 376th BG, 514th BS, San Pancrazio, Italy, February 1944. I've only managed to make out:

AIRCRAFT GROUND CREW
M/Sgt. R. E. Weitzenegger — Crew Chief

The other lines in the photo are too blurry to read, but Richard E. Weitzenegger is indeed documented as the crew chief of *Blue Streak*—this is confirmed by 376th BG archives.

Also please notice that that there were two variants of the inscriptions on the port side. The first one can be seen in the left image while the second one in the right shot. The difference is that the most bottom inscription below the ARMURER list of guys was overpainted for some reason. It seems that this depeneds on the time period.

Stanislav ... additionally please make a focus on that there were thin lines of on the map that were the flight paths/ heading lines showing the missions accomplished. According to the inscription seen above the map. In most images of the Liberator these aren't noticed but when using the Gama correction these lines appeared. However there is a lot of them and not sure if it is worth to replicate them in the scale.

Well... like... my textures are only 4K; even the lettering is hard to read. I could give it a try, though—it would probably be a cool feature.

One other not on Blue Streak's unusual camouflage scheme - the undersides were Deep Sky Blue instead of Neutral Gray. She was one of the B-24s planned for Britain but diverted to HalPro for a second raid (after Doolittle's mission) against Japan. Diverted to the Middle East, the aircraft never made it to China, but did get some fancy nose art when sent home for a bond tour.

So, what are these writings at the tail end? I did manage to render them—albeit with some difficulty deciphering them... But still. What kind of script is this? And did I make any spelling errors?

Stas's photos were taken either just before she was sent stateside, or just after. When the 1st one is pulled up from other sources, you can see that the leading edge has been removed from the wing. Photos known to be taken in Fort Worth during the bond tour, show bright leading edges and cowlings with red and blue stripes on them. I suspect that the black sections were done simply to obsure some specific information prior to the public tour.

Photos of the other side of her nose show a lot of other artwork.

Well... anyway, that's how things stand for now. Mind you, I deliberately made it look like something that's seen a lot of wear and tear—making it look pristine, as if fresh off the assembly line, struck me as too simple.

And now comes the most difficult part: applying the technical inscriptions (stencils). Considering their miniature size—as well as the dimensions of my model and the presence of 4K textures. I don't think we need to obsess over the actual content of the stencils—we can write whatever we want; you wouldn't be able to read it anyway. ;.)
All that remains is to find the layout diagram for the technical stencils.

IMHO .. the appearance of the B-24 at the time period you are interested in should be like the one in the images below. The Olive Drab (OD 41) over Neutral Gray (NG 43). The mottling of the Medium Green No. 42 patches at the wing leading and trailing edges. Also on the edges of the fins, vertical stabilizers and elevators and rudders. But the rudders painted green fully. The yellow name painted on both sides with a thin black shadow. One row white starts with the bombs painted yellow as markings of missions on the port side with two planes and three ships as the victory markings. The yellow painted serial on the top of the fins. The sgark jaws of the stabdard colours. The black background, white teeth, red gums and the black outline for the entire marking. The eye the white background around the windows there as the pupils of the eye and red painted eyeballs. The black painted wrinkles around the eyes and jaws.
