I saw Italy play Germany once in a friendly in Stuttgart, Germany. Italy won 2:1, but we had such a good time. I was sitting next to a guy who drove up from Italy for the game. We kept taking turns getting each other beer. After the game we all went for more drinks. I remember him telling us "Tonight Italy was the better team. But Germany has the better beer!"

No I missed it.

I saw Villareal play Bayern in Munich once in the Champions League. Coldest, windiest game I have been to. Bayern won 3:0.
Villarreal had one shot on target, David de Gea didnt save it. It went to penalties (1-1) de Gea missed 11 penalties and when it was his turn to take the penalty it was saved so Villarreal won 11-10. He hasnt saved a penalty in over 5 years and is on £350,000 a week. circa $495,000. Top class team, manager and players, deffinitely Europes "elite".

The G.55 and C.205 were the best Italian fighters to fought front. The G.56 showed impressive performance, but produced only two aircraft.
My choice for early Italian fighter? The Caproni Vizzola F.5.
