It is not
The aircraft's serial number would have the word "Werk-Nr" followed by the numbers.

The number 1161 is too high for a Bf109E series aircraft.
It is not always written on the Luftwaffe boards with aircraft numbers W.nr ..there are duplicate plates. In my case, I also think that this is not the number of the plane. There is no similar number for the lost Bf 109E in the place where the plate was found. In the photo, plates with aircraft numbers without an inscription W.nr .

IMHO that can be a data plate from a part for Bf 109E and made by the Arado Flugzeugwerke. The full ID plate would look like that one below. However the number 1161 doesn't seem to be too high for the Bf 109E. The aircraft wreckage of a Bf 109E-3 found near Calais, France in 80' is the Werk Nummer 1342 while the one of the I./JG 76 captured in 1940 by the French was of the Werk Nr. 1304. Both of them seem to be a part of a batch of 484 of the fighters built between August 1939 and May 1940 by the Erla Maschinenwerke factory. The next examples can be: the Swiss Bf 109E-3 marked as J-311 of the Werk.Nr. 2159. Also the Bf 109E-3, Werk. Nr. 1289 of the 2/JG 26, Bf 109E-4 Werk. Nr. 1190 of the 4/JG26 shot down over GB in 1940, the Bf 109E-4 Werk. Nr. 1407 of the JG77 shot down near Murmansk in 1941. There are also other 109E-3, and E-4s of higher serials started with 3, 4 or even 5 as memo serves. The E-1 series had the serials of lower range ( less then 1000) and started with "0" usually.
Because the Bayerische Flugzeugwerke is mentioned as the Nachbau ( in English ... replica ) in the plate above, the Werk Nummer 1161 is very possible as well. Just my two cents.

the source: the net.

Could "Nachbau" refer to something like a replacement part or a spare? I know Bf-109s were reworked and repaired then sent back into action. Would the replacement parts be so marked when built?

Bf 109E Werknumers from Erla, Leipzig have a production run starting with Werknumer 1074 and running to Werknumer 1574.

1161 falls right in there.

See post 5 i have a hard time believing it a dataplate and not a drawing number
