The kit has two options, the one shown and another with the two 30mm in the nose.I hope Revell did not call it /R3 because of the rocket pods, it was /R3 because of the two 3cm guns replacing the 4 MGs in the upper nose.
As I mentioned, there wasn't a production rüstsãtze for the BR21, it was a field addition.The /R code in aircraft designtions was used for permanent equipment changes/upgrades, optional/attachable/removable equipment also had an /R number but tht did not change an aircraft designation.
A G-2/R3 did exist, a basic G-2 with the twin 3cm gun upgrade. Both the ventral gun pod and the rocket pod were optional but frequently used
