Kind of reminds me of a flight into Detroit, MI back in the 70s. I was on a Convair 580. We just barely got into a very foggy Detroit. The swept wing birds couldn't get in.

The pilot aborted the first try. Couldn't see the lights soon enough. So we went around. The next final you could tell we were going slower! I am sure we were as close to stall as the pilot dared. We touched down and the next moment all I could see was the wing tip lights and the runway light next to the wing. Nothing like being IFR with 10 to 20 meters vis on the runway!

It was an interesting flight!
