Corsair loses explained

This brought Canada's last Victoria Cross recipient to mind, Lt. R.H. Gray, VC, DSC.

Gray flew his Corsair from HMS Formidable, being shot down and killed, but not before sinking the Japanese escort ship Amakusa on August 9, 1945.

The SBD was apparently one of the easiest aircraft to land on a carrier and the Corsair had the worst sort of reputation for being the opposite!

I wonder which the FAA pilots preferred more for deck landings, the Seafire or Corsair.
