Actually, i think all Corsairs are great, but in your opinion, rate the the Corsair variants from best-average-worst. Would love to read ur opinions.

I honestly think the F4U-5N is the best though. It had better performance than its predecessors and was modernised. My worst would be the AU-1, maybe because it was heavy and lacked performance, but still a great attack aircraft

My worst would be the AU-1,

Be very careful when comparing the AU-1, granted it wasn't anywhere near as good high up but many websites and books give the top speed with it carrying a pair of large bombs, 10 small bombs and a drop tank, all at the same time.
Performance when clean at low altitude was actually pretty good.
361mph at sea level and 389mph at 14,000ft.
Climb at sea level using combat power (115/145 fuel) was 4620fps.

The British only had two basic methods of improving performance, hack off or add to the ends of the wings and increase the distance between the pilot and the propeller. This also seems to have worked on the Corsair.

True that... i would say it was also pretty sturdy and tough the AU-1. What about the F2G though? I don't know much about it but i heard it was rather mediocre.

Did it depend on theatre, I think its sensible for RN Corsairs to be in the same colours as US ones when working together.
