Dive bombers armament mismatch

How come japan dive bomber aichi d3a2 could cary only one 250 kg. It has similar to Douglas SBD Dauntless parameters: 1300 hp engine, weight, other. SBD could cary almost 4 times more bombs.

250 kg was realy not enough to sink capital ships and carriers - kamikadze have similar load and results were bad.

Only if the combat range was very short. Normally the SBD carried a 1,000 lb bomb for attacking warships.
