Hello, I got the du doch nicht combo from eduard and want to do the silver albatros but for some reason, pictures of this plane are scarce online (tho there are some for his black plane).

But the effect of shining may be a result of the varnished plywood with the gloss clear lacquer used in a factory. Here is his D.Va no. 4476/17 while servicing in Jasta 37. It can be noticed that the aircraft skin was the unpainted plywood. Also it is known image of his black D.Va See the first source link above.
That's true. At least the one of Karl Haustein seems to be of the base colour. The other ones don't seem to be. It could have been the light blue-grey paint as well. Certainly I may be wrong but looking at the images it is quite difficult to state the correct coat. Also I have seen a couple shots of the Albatroses ( not of the Jasta 37 ) that looked like painted silver. So the paint was used too.
